Visualization Information Design

Information Design

Course: Information Design/CRMM 4920

In the Information Design course, I learned to develop my skills in data visualization and my ability to read and analyze information. The software programs I used to create the deliverables are Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. I also used data visualization software tools like Flourish and Tableau to analyze data.

Here are some of the projects I created for this course:

KnightLab Timeline

I developed a timeline for the Maya Rulers of Copan with 15 data points and using KnightLab.

Check the timeline here!

Social Media Infographic

Using climate data from NOAA for the Memphis International Airport, I framed the average annual precipitation and average annual temperature on a chart. Then, I calculated the percent change in average temperature from 1945 to 1949 and from 2015 to 2021. It was assumed the distribution of the infographic was through Twitter.

The infographic was made using Illustrator and InDesign.

Streaming Services Visualization

Using data from Nielsen, I did an interactive visualization using Flourish of the top 10 original and acquired programs, and movies seen through the top streaming services.

Six Degress of Kevin Bacon: Golden Girls Edition

This was a fun activity to do, especially because I’m a fan of the Golden Girls and Kevin Bacon. I used Flourish for the intercative visualization.

Interactive Visualization Story

Using Flourish, I created a Flourish Story containing 3 visualizations based on information from the Pew Research Center regarding Generations and Age.

Infographic

For this infographic, I did research on a topic and presented summarized key information. For this project I used Illustrator, InDesign, and Flourish.
